SensusAccess is a self-service solution that automatically converts web pages and files into alternative multimedia formats, improving their accessibility.
Who can access it?
The service is designed for people with disabilities and learning disabilities, but is available to all students, employees and teaching staff at the University of Ferrara. Simply use your institutional email address (@unife.it or @edu.unife.it).
How does it work?
Users can convert readings, slides and lecture notes into formats that are more suited to their needs:
- Audio files: MP3 and audiobooks (DAISY format)
- E-books in EPUB, EPUB3 and Mobi formats
- Digital books in Braille
Furthermore, the service is designed to facilitate access to otherwise inaccessible documents, such as PDF files consisting solely of images or scanned images/text.
The conversion process consists of four simple steps:
- Uploading the original file (or a link to a web page)
- Choosing the final format (output)
- Submitting the request
- Receipt of an e-mail containing the converted and accessible file or the download link, in the case of large files.
The documents you send will be automatically deleted once conversion is complete.
The processed file will be available for 7 days. After this period, the requested processing will be automatically deleted from the server.
Terms of use
Use of the service is governed by the following terms and conditions:
- Exclusive use of the service for educational, teaching, personal and non-commercial purposes. The end user is responsible for any violations of the intellectual property rights of the authors. Authorisation to use the converted file in accessible format is limited to personal use only.
