ACS

Unife has signed the renewal of the CRUI-ACS (American Chemical Society) transformative agreement 2024-2026, a renewal finalized only in December 2025 although the previous agreement expired in December 2023.

The renewal allows for:

  • access to the contractual journals through the ACS Publications platform, from the university's network, or from a connection outside the Unife LAN using the OpenVPN software;
  • unlimited publication for Unife authors in hybrid and fully gold journals included in the CRUI-ACS transformative agreement.

Eligible Author and Submission

The contract defines an Eligible Author for OA requests as someone who, cumulatively:

  • is primarily affiliated with an adhering Institution (in the case of articles published by multiple authors, only the submitting author can be considered the Affiliated Author);
  • has signed the OA publication agreement;
  • has been confirmed as an Affiliated Author by an Institution.

If the corresponding author, i.e. the Unife researcher in charge of submitting the article (it is recommended to always use email address @unife.it), chooses to publish in Open Access, the publication costs (APC) will be charged to the university contract.

ACS contract journals where to publish in Open Access

The list of journals eligible for OA publication can be found at this link.

Attention: there is no retrospective conversion for articles published under subscription (closed access) in ACS journals in the years prior to 2026; even in the event of conversion, the publisher will not refund expenses incurred and will not return the copyright transferred on the articles to the authors.
