The Carlo Savonuzzi Archival Collection and the University Library System participated in the 13th National Architecture Archives Day, promoted by theNational Association of Contemporary Architecture Archives and dedicated to the theme Beyond boundaries with the virtual exhibition The Reno overflows its banks: the flood of February 1951 in photographs from the Carlo Savonuzzi Archival Collection.
It is possible to see a selection of photographs that show the tragedy of the flooding of the River Reno, which took place in February 1951, in a temporary projection in the entrance hall of Palazzo Tassoni, the seat of the Architecture Department, and online at this link or on the Unife Channel.
The photographs owned by engineer and architect Carlo Savonuzzi, while not being the result of a direct visit by him, are evidence of his interest in the traumatic event. The exhibition presents a photographic tour that follows the route of the Porrettana State Road, between Ferrara and Bologna, visiting the towns of Torre dell’Uccellino, Montalbano and Gallo, and travelling as far as Marrara, which was seriously affected by a second flood caused by the overflow of the Cembalina Canal.
